Today, at around 2:30 PM, Station 51 was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire with possible entrapment in Station 52’s response district on Stony Brook Rd. Tower 51 was the first apparatus on the road out of Station 51 followed by Tanker 51 and then Engine 51. First arriving units were aware of the magnitude and seriousness of the conditions they would face as they could visibly see a column of smoke en route to the scene. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that there were no victims entrapped. Heavy smoke and fire was present throughout the structure and the all hands was declared. Chief 51 was delegated as Operations Chief and Tower 51’s crew immediately went to work upon arrival. Tower 51’s crew stretched lines through a haze of smoke up to the structure, operated those lines, set up a Blitzfire monitor for greater water flow, and eventually completed over haul operations. Tanker 51 was assigned to a tanker task force to help ensure adequate water supply throughout the incident. Engine 51’s manpower assisted with various tasks on scene. The fire was placed under control by 3:30 PM.

Mutual aid from Ewing, Princeton, Lawrence, Montgomery, Plainsboro and West Amwell assisted with this incident. Cover assignments were put in place to cover the township while Hopewell companies operated on scene. Some units remained on scene until 6:00 PM. Thank you especially to Station 31 from Ewing for covering Station 51.

In an 11 hour span, between 2:00 PM yesterday and 1:00 AM today, Station 51 was dispatched to a total of 21 incidents throughout the area. Call types included: reported structure fires, downed wires and utility poles, uncontrolled water leaks, MVA rescue assignments and alarms. Our trucks responded from emergency to emergency throughout the day and night. Our members assisted utility companies in restoring power as well by supplying scene lighting. Thank you to the mutual aid agencies that assisted throughout the storm.

Just before 11:30 AM today, Station 51 was dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the Brandon Farms development. Agencies from across the surrounding area including Ewing, Lawrence, and Princeton responded to the scene. The fire was declared under control around 12:30 PM. Thank you to all agencies and personnel that responded including the cover assignments. Please avoid the area as the scene is still active and fluid at this time. No further details will be reported.

Event Details: This holiday season, Santa Claus

has asked Station 51 to help deliver gifts in our district. With so many children in the Pennington area, he desperately needs our assistance and of course our members are ready for the task. If interested in getting a special visit from Santa and a truck from our fleet packed with some of our members, please fill out the form. Cost: a minimum $20 donation per household. All donations will go to the building fund. When: Pre-wrapped gifts must be dropped off at our firehouse on December 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th between 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Gifts must include child’s name, age, and address. Gifts will be delivered on December 13th, 14th, and 15th between 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM.

Just after 5:30 this morning, Engine 51 was requested for an odor of smoke in a residence in the four seasons development in Brandon Farms. Shortly thereafter, Chief 51 arrived on scene, reported fire through the roof of the structure and called the all hands. Crews had the fire knocked down by 6:30.

Joe Dev joined the Pennington Fire Company in the fall of 2015 looking to serve his community while finishing his last two years at The Pennington School. He graduated from the fire academy in June of 2016 and has been actively responding since then. He was awarded both “Junior of the Year” award and a “Top 10 Responder” award for 2016. Joe Dev is now currently attending the University of New Haven in Connecticut. While working towards his degree in paramedicine with a minor in fire science, he is taking advantage of the live-in-program with the West Haven Fire Department. Joe is an interior firefighter as well as a certified EMT. The Pennington Fire Company is proud of Joe Dev’s accomplishments and wishes him the best of luck while studying and protecting.

Just like every year, we’ll be serving pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Everybody who attends is welcome to check out our newly renovated station and our state of the art fleet. Kids are encouraged to explore the trucks and firefighting equipment with the guidance of an active firefighter/member.

In late 2016, Station 51 was renovated to meet the new demands of its expanding membership. Renovations were made to the western wing which included the addition of: a state of the art radio room, a conference room, two offices, and a lounge with a half kitchen. Improvements were made to the exterior of the building and a new parking lot was paved in the rear. Residents will not only be able to see the new changes, but also hear them. In the coming days, a siren will be installed to alert firefighters of an incident.

Just before 2:00 am on July 7th, Pennington Fire Company and other Hopewell stations were dispatched to reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Woosamonsa Road. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with flames in the rear and smoke throughout the 1.5 story structure. The second alarm was struck soon after arrival and additionally a tanker task force was assigned to the incident. The fire was brought under control around 3:30 am. No injuries were sustained by either the residents or any responding emergency personnel.
